Speaker: Dawn D. Bennett-Alexander
Dawn D. Bennett-Alexander (Dr. B-A), tenured associate professor of Employment Law &Legal Studies, emerita, at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business, and founder of Practical Diversity LLC, is a cum laude graduate of the Howard University School of Law and a magna cum laude graduate of the Federal City College (now the University of the District of Columbia), both in Washington, DC. She is licensed to practice law in DC and six federal jurisdictions. By the time she retired after 33 years at UGA in February 2021, she had amassed over 60 awards and recognitions for teaching and service, including, upon her retirement, the University of Georgia creating the Dawn D. Bennett-Alexander Inclusive Community Award, a yearly monied award for faculty demonstrating a significant commitment to Diversity and Inclusion. Bennett-Alexander’s TED Talk on Practical Diversity has been viewed 200,000 times. With the $25,000 funds from the prestigious national Beckman Award for excellence in teaching, she established the Dawn D. Bennett-Alexander Building Bridges Scholarship for UGA students engaging in diversity work.
