Speaker:  Chuck Wade

Chuck Wade is the Executive Director of The Council on Alcohol and Drugs. He has been the state director of Drugs Don’t Work in Georgia for the past twenty-one years. 

Previously, Mr. Wade was a police officer for fifteen years, working as an undercover narcotics agent for eleven of those years. He won awards from the DEA and from the FBI for outstanding service in the field of law enforcement.

Mr. Wade won a Commendation award from the International Narcotic Enforcement Officers’ Association in 1989. He was also honored in NarcOfficer magazine (a nationwide publication) for his service as an undercover drug agent. He has been certified to teach drug identification by the Peace Officers’ Standards of Training Council of Georgia, has taught undercover drug investigation classes at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia, and conducted employee drug education and supervisor training classes for businesses throughout Georgia.

Also, Mr. Wade has been the guest speaker on drug addiction and drug abuse at work for numerous business and civic organizations in Georgia. He has been interviewed about drugs and alcohol in the workplace on most major Atlanta television and radio stations and featured in drug free workplace articles in many local newspapers in the state.

Since Mr. Wade became the state director of the Drugs Don’t Work program in 1996, Drugs Don’t Work in Georgia has been adopted by sixty-eight counties in Georgia and was named one of the 2002 Exemplary Substance Abuse Prevention Programs by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, the National Center for the Advancement of Drug Prevention, and the Centers for the Application of Prevention Technologies.
