Simisola Johnson, Business Services Recruiter, GA Department of Labor


Simisola holds a Master of Science Management from Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL; a B.SC. in Human Resource Management from Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, AL; Certificate of Business Education form the Chartered Insurance Institute in London, England; and a Diploma in Insurance/Actuarial Science from Lagos State Polytechnic in Lagos, Nigeria.

She offers more than fifteen years experience in administrative support & staffing, interviewing applicants to gather and analyze information, conduct face-to-face & phone contact with the public, and work with a diverse group of applicants & employers (recruiting) to achieve customer satisfaction. Establishes & maintains relationships with the general public, schools, the news and information media, agency stakeholders, industry representatives, and/or community groups in order to communicate and disseminate program information which results in an understanding of the agency's mission and activities.

Cory Thornton, Local Veterans Employment Representative, GA Department of Labor

Cory attended Albany State University on the HOPE Scholarship and Army R.O.T.C. Scholarship. Once graduating from college in 2001, he was commissioned into the United States Army as a second lieutenant. He spent two years in the military, stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia. While in the military, he earned his master’s degree in human resource management from American Intercontinental University.

Upon completing his military duty, Cory worked as a correctional officer, and later a police officer. 

He is currently employed at the Georgia Department of Labor, as the local veteran’s employment representative, which he networks with employer’s and human resource personnel to help get veterans hired, by spearheading veterans career fair’s for the past seven years.
