Speaker:  Paul Schlumper, CSP, P.E.                                                       GA Tech Occupational Safety and Health Programs

Mr. Paul Schlumper is a Principal Research Engineer with the Georgia Tech Research Institute and is Head of the Safety Engineering Branch, a unit of the Occupational Safety and Health Programs Office.  As Branch Head, Mr. Schlumper oversees the efforts of researchers working in the areas of occupational safety, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness and response, and fire safety, as well as environmental compliance.

Mr. Schlumper has over 25 years’ experience working as a trainer and consultant in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety and Health Management Systems such as ANSI Z10 and OHSAS 18001, ISO 14000/Environmental Management Systems, and Environmental Compliance.   As a member of the OSHA On-Site Safety and Health Consultation team, he has helped hundreds of facilities regarding safety and health management and compliance.    He also helped establish and deliver courses as part of the OSHA Training Institute Education Center program.  Courses delivered include the OTI 7505 Accident Investigation Course, Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Safety Management Systems, OSHA Recordkeeping, and General Industry Safety.

Prior experience also includes working as a Safety Manager with the Corporate Safety Department of the Georgia Pacific Corporation.  In this capacity, Mr. Schlumper conducted accident investigations, on-site audits, and a variety of training for manufacturing facilities.

Mr. Schlumper is a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Georgia and a Certified Safety Professional (CSP).  Mr. Schlumper received a Bachelor in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Mr. Schlumper will discuss what are, and are not, OSHA reportable incidents, types of certifications available for organizations, record-keeping, & relevant laws & regulations.
