Our Athens Area SHRM Chapter will be meeting Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Georgia Center.  Networking will begin at 5:30pm followed by dinner and presentation.

Todd Stanton will be speaking to our chapter on the importance of background checks, the required processes and forms, and the latest trends.

Mr. Stanton's practice consists of litigating employment discrimination charges and complaints in both state and federal courts and before various administrative agencies. He focuses also on preventive practices to help employers avoid litigation, including advising clients on proper hiring, discipline and termination practices, conducting internal harassment and discrimination investigations, communicating effectively with employees and properly maintaining employee personnel records.

Mr. Stanton regularly conducts training and information seminars on topics such as workplace harassment, discrimination, how to handle employee complaints and best practices for hiring, disciplining and terminating employees. Most recently, he has conducted several Continuing Legal Education classes on various employment law issues and presented to the Georgia State Employer Committee and several Atlanta-area Chambers of Commerce.
