Our next Athens Area SHRM meeting will be on Tuesday, January 13th, at the Athens Country Club. The Athens Country Club is located at

2700 Jefferson Road, Athens 30607.

The program will be "The New SHRM Certification" and be delivered by Sally C. Roberts, MBA SPHR, Director of HR for multiple divisions of Morris Communications Company headquartered in Augusta, Georgia. 

Networking will begin at 5:30pm followed promptly by dinner at 6:00 pm and then our program.

Please register by Friday January 9th so that we can have an accurate count of attendees.

In the spring of 2014, SHRM announced the launch of a new competency based certification.  In this presentation, Sally will review the nine competency areas, discuss the two certifications, the testing process and the pathway process for those who currently hold a certification through HRCI:

Speaker Bio - Sally C. Roberts, MBA SPHR

Sally C. Roberts, MBA SPHR is the Director of Human Resources for multiple divisions of Morris Communications Company headquartered in Augusta, Georgia.  She supports employees in 38 states who work in the Magazine division, which includes titles such as Where, In New York, Charlotte Magazine and St. Louis Bride.  She also supports the Radio division.  She provides HR for these areas as well as acts as a liaison between Morris Communications and their benefits providers.

 

Sally has enjoyed the field of Human Resources for over twenty years.  She began her HR career with Promina Health Systems in Lawrenceville, Georgia.  After moving to Augusta, in 1996 she became HR Director for Brandon Wilde, a Continuing Care Community.  After leaving Brandon Wilde, she provided HR Consulting for Augusta area companies including Windsor Jewelers, the Marriott, and Morris Communications.  She joined Morris Communications as HR Director in 2005.

Sally has held various volunteer positions with the CSRA SHRM chapter, including Legislative Chair and President.  During her term as President, the CSRA SHRM received a Pinnacle Award for their partnership with Richmond Country drug court.  She continues as a frequent volunteer with this program. On a state level she has served on the SHRM Georgia Government Affairs Committee and currently serves as SHRM Georgia Director.  She has participated in meetings with both state and national legislators including participation in the SHRM GA Annual DC Fly In for the past five years.

Sally holds an MBA from Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia and a BA degree from Erskine College, Due West, South Carolina.  She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and holds her SHRM-SCP.  In her spare time, if her children Alex and Maya have a ball game or performance, she can be heard cheering them on!
