"Unemployment Hearings - Preparation and Participation for Effective Employer Outcomes"

When an employee files an unemployment claim, the employer has certain responsibilities, deadlines, and opportunities in defending against the claim.  This program will educate Human Resource Professionals on how best to meet those responsibilities within those deadlines and take advantage of the opportunities offered in the process of handling these claims.  Some of the questions that will be answered include; Is it possible to avoid paying an Unemployment claim?  If a hearing is scheduled, what can I do to prepare?   When are witnesses a good idea at the hearing?  What if the DOL determination is unfavorable? This program will present practical and useful tips that will assist HR Professionals with the process of presenting information to the Department of Labor to defend against unemployment claims.

Speaker Bio - Jill Arquette

Jill Arquette is a Senior Human Resources Generalist with the Athens Clarke County Unified Government.   She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from  Upper Iowa University and holds a Certificate of Human Resource Management from the University of Georgia.  She holds a Certification from HRCI and her background also includes public safety communications.  In that setting she obtained great skill in attention to detail and the ability to capture information quickly. In her current position she has participated in countless Unemployment Hearings with the Department of Labor.  Jill is an expert in Employment and boasts an impressive record of unemployment claim decisions in favor of the Employer as well as a winning record in appeals of unemployment claims.
