Just as every new sports season brings with it excitement and challenges, every new administration brings new plans, new players and new challenges for employers.  This year, employers will have to work hard to keep up with the full court press of new statues and regulations coming out of the new administration and Congress, and new case law expanding employee protections under existing laws.  This session will review the most important new labor and employment law developments – and attempt to provide practical advice to employers to help them maintain a winning record

Speaker Bio - W. Jonathan Martin II

Jonathan Martin is an equity partner with Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLP. The firm limits its practice to labor and employment law for management.  It has done this since 1946, when it was founded in Atlanta.  The firm now has twenty-five offices in fourteen states and it represents companies throughout the country.  Constangy, Brooks & Smith, is listed as #264 in the National Law Journal 350, the publication’s ranking of the nation’s 350 largest law firms in terms of attorney head count.

Jonathan graduated from of the Terry School of Business at the University of Georgia, (B.B.A.- Banking & Finance, cum laude), and a Mercer University’s Law School, (J.D., magna cum laude). 

Prior to being in private practice, Jonathan served as a military lawyer in the Air Force Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps.  Jonathan currently serves as a JAG in the Georgia Air National Guard, where he holds the rank of Major.

Jonathan published an annual article on Labor & Employment Law for the Mercer Law Review , and he is a Chapter Editor for book The Developing Labor Law.

Jonathan has also been awarded the Martindale-Hubbell^® AV Preeminent® rating, the highest possible rating for an attorney for both ethical standards and legal ability.

Recently, Jonathan was named a “Client Service All-Stars.”  Of 307 lawyers nominated nationally by in-house counsel, Jonathan was identified as one of 28 labor and employment attorneys  who were “Client Service All-Stars,”  an honor reserved for those that set themselves apart by keeping a close eye on changing trends in the regulatory and legal landscape, and by paying attention to clients’ needs, according to the BTI Consulting Group Inc.
