Our Athens Area SHRM Chapter will be meeting Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Georgia Center. Networking will begin at 5:30pm followed by dinner and presentation.
Olivia P. Jones, Senior Wage Hour Investigator with the US Department of Labor, Wage Hour Division, will be presenting on the topic of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Ms. Jones works for the agency that enforces the law. What better way to get correct information other than directly from the source. With her career and position, she has become extremely well versed with the FMLA and the proper application of the law. She has been enforcing the FMLA since 1995 by providing interpretations of the regulations to the public and ensuring that companies are compliant with applying the law.
Our chapter will have the Department of Labor at their finger tips to ask "real" questions and receive "real' answers.
Ms. Jones is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University and have been with Wage Hour for 16 years providing service to the Nation. As a Senior Investigator her job is to enforce multiple labor laws, including FMLA and FLSA.
